Job description

Vice President of Finance

Grinnell, Iowa | Executive Leadership | Primarily Onsite

Base salary starting in the low $200Ks + executive incentive opportunity with potential payout up to 60% | Relocation assistance available

Lead the financial strategy behind a $300M+ global, multi-channel portfolio of businesses, with a seat at the executive table and the opportunity to directly influence how we grow, invest, and create long-term value.

2nd Adventure Services provides shared services and executive leadership support across a portfolio that includes Brownells, Crow Wholesale, and other brands in the rugged outdoors and firearms industry, serving B2C, B2B, law enforcement, and military customers.

We are seeking a Vice President of Finance who combines enterprise-level financial leadership with a willingness to stay close to the business. Reporting directly to the CEO and serving as a member of the executive leadership team, this leader will oversee Finance while partnering closely with merchandising, supply chain, operations, and other business leaders across our portfolio.

This is an opportunity for an accomplished finance leader who wants meaningful influence, broad business exposure, and the ability to help shape the next phase of a privately held, multi-brand organization.

What You'll Lead

  • Set and execute long-range financial strategy, planning, forecasting, and financial priorities across the enterprise
  • Lead consolidated financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and modeling across a complex, multi-entity organization
  • Drive cash flow and working capital performance, including cash conversion cycle improvement, cash forecasting, liquidity planning, and treasury activities
  • Own key banking relationships and bank reporting, ensuring strong communication and appropriate access to capital
  • Partner with merchandising and supply chain leaders to improve inventory productivity, margin performance, COGS visibility, and working capital efficiency
  • Translate financial performance into clear insights that help executive and functional leaders make better decisions
  • Ensure strong financial governance, GAAP compliance, tax compliance, and enterprise risk management
  • Lead and develop an experienced Finance team spanning accounting, FP&A, treasury, AP, and AR

What We're Looking For

  • Significant experience leading both accounting and FP&A functions
  • 10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience
  • Demonstrated ownership of treasury, banking relationships, and financial forecasting
  • Experience managing the financial dynamics of an inventory-intensive business
  • Experience working within a multi-entity or multi-business organization
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field
  • Strong executive communication skills with the ability to present complex financial information clearly to executive, board, and banking audiences
  • Track record of building, developing, and leading high-performing teams
  • Ability to operate strategically while remaining willing to engage directly in the work when needed
  • Comfort working within and supporting the firearms and Second Amendment industry

Experience leading finance in eCommerce, retail, merchandising, wholesale distribution, manufacturing, or another complex inventory-intensive business is strongly preferred. An MBA, CPA, or CFA is valued but not required.

Why This Opportunity

This role offers more than stewardship of the Finance function. You will have direct access to the CEO, meaningful influence on enterprise strategy, and the opportunity to help a recognizable portfolio of brands strengthen financial visibility, optimize capital performance, and make data-driven decisions around inventory, margin, investment, and growth.

You will also inherit an established Finance team and join a business with significant momentum, with the ability to shape how Finance supports the organization going forward.

Location & Work Arrangement

This executive role is based at our headquarters in Grinnell, Iowa and requires a meaningful onsite leadership presence. We believe executive visibility and collaboration matter, while also providing appropriate flexibility at the VP level. Relocation assistance is available for candidates relocating to Iowa.

Compensation

Base salary starts in the low $200Ks, commensurate with experience, plus an executive incentive opportunity with potential payout up to 60%.

If you are a finance leader who enjoys connecting financial strategy to business performance, developing strong teams, and working alongside leaders to turn insight into action, we would welcome the opportunity to learn more about you.
