Job description

This role is for one of the Weekday's clients

Location: Seward, Nebraska

Compensation: $85,000 - $135,000 + bonus

JobType: full-time

Our client, an expanding company in the agriculture industry, is opening a brand-new facility near Seward, Nebraska,

and is seeking a Financial Controller to establish the accounting function from scratch.

This is a newly established position directly linked to their growth-not a replacement role.

If you have ever wanted the chance to step into a position where you can design structure, impact systems, and genuinely

take full ownership of the results, this is the perfect opportunity.

Even better-you will be involved before operations are fully underway, providing a unique opportunity to get ahead of the business, comprehend how everything operates, and help shape it correctly right from the start.

Requirements

Why This Opportunity Is Unique

This position provides benefits that most Controller roles do not:

A genuine "build" opportunity - Rather than inheriting flawed processes, you will have the chance to establish them correctly from the start

Time to proactively support the business - Join before things become hectic, not after

Growth aligned with the operation's expansion - Your influence and responsibilities will increase as the facility grows

High-level visibility - Collaborate directly with executive leadership and hold a pivotal position within the company

True ownership - You will be the primary point of contact for all accounting matters at this location

Your Key Responsibilities

Managing all accounting functions for the facility

Ensuring accuracy in financial reporting including P&L, balance sheet, and general ledger

Designing and implementing internal controls and accounting procedures

Leading month-end close and reconciliation activities

Supporting audit processes and maintaining financial integrity

Supervising a small team covering accounts payable, payroll/HR, and administrative support

Acting as the in-house expert on financial systems and ERP workflows

Collaborating with leadership to deliver clear and dependable financial insights

Ideal Candidates For This Role

A Controller seeking greater ownership and impact

A Senior Accountant looking to advance into a leadership position

An individual who enjoys building, enhancing, and taking initiative

A professional who excels in a dynamic and growing environment

Qualifications Sought

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)

Approximately 4+ years of accounting or finance experience (flexible for exceptional candidates)

Strong attention to detail and sense of accountability

Experience with ERP systems (implementation experience is advantageous)

Background in manufacturing, operational, or cost accounting is preferred

Leadership experience or a demonstrated desire and ability to develop into a leadership role

Compensation & Benefits

Base salary range: $85,000 - $135,000 depending on experience

Annual bonus program

Fully employer-paid family health insurance

Affordable dental and vision plans

Flexible paid time off based on experience

Relocation assistance available

Start Date & Onboarding

Target start period: Summer to early Fall

Opportunity to come on board early and contribute to shaping operations before full-scale ramp-up

In Summary

This position is not about stepping into an existing framework.

It's about building, owning, and growing that framework alongside the business.

If this aligns with the kind of opportunity you are seeking, it's worth exploring further.
