Quanex is looking for a Plant Controller to join our team located in Rice Lake, Wisconsin.
Under limited supervision, the Plant Controller establishes and maintains a system of internal accounting control to safeguard division assets and provide accurate accounting records and financial reports in accordance with corporate guidelines and generally accepted accounting principles. Supervises and coordinates divisional requirements in the areas of finance, cost accounting, fixed assets and assists with the management of various projects.

What Success Looks Like:
  • Work closely with members of the Operations team to control costs through managing standards, analyzing variances, and implementing improvements and best practices in production.
  • Develop standard costs for new inventory part numbers and maintain all standard costs in the ERP system in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Work with Engineering and Product Development team on new business costing for price
  • Assist in preparation of annual budget, evaluate the financial soundness of RFEs, communicate any financial risks to management, and track and report progress spending.
  • Play an integral role in the Finance group with monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, primarily focused on activities related to production, inventory and fixed assets.
  • Support the Materials Management group in their year-end physical inventory and ongoing cycle count program. Reconcile the perpetual inventory to the general ledger monthly.
  • Isolate and analyze material variances including pricing and Assist operations in resolving production variances.
  • Review monthly account reconciliations, primarily for inventory and fixed asset
  • Track and report on the financial impact of all Capital Projects meeting Return on Investments as required.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls, through self-testing, ongoing training and communication and remediation of control weaknesses or Assist in management of internal and external audits.
  • Calculate and analyze all inventory reserves as required to ensure appropriate inventory
  • Collaborates with FP&A team to provide analysis and data as
  • Play a functional role in any ERP system upgrades or implementations requiring financial testing and/or validation from a manufacturing and general ledger perspective to insure system accuracy and integrity.

What You Bring:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting
  • 5 years of experience in a manufacturing accounting environment
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are essential
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including but not limited to Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, etc.).
  • ERP system experience
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports and statements
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, and attention to detail
  • Experience in manufacturing accounting
  • SOX preferred but not required
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Proficient will all Microsoft Office products; advanced Microsoft Excel skills

The salary range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000 plus bonus potential.
