Summary POSITION SUMMARY

The Director of Finance is a key member of the Finance Department Head, responsible for overseeing all financial operations and supporting Hyatt Regency Hakone's strategic goals. The role ensures financial integrity, drives profitability, and provides accurate, timely insights to support business decisions, while maintaining Hyatt standards and contributing to an environment where both guests and colleagues can thrive.

STRATEGIC FINANCIAL LEADERSHIP
  • Partner with the General Manager and Finance Department Head to drive hotel performance, profitability, and sustainable business results.
  • Provide financial leadership and challenge across the business, contributing to strategic planning and revenue optimization initiatives.
  • Lead the annual budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning processes.
  • Translate financial information into clear priorities, actions, and recommendations for operational leaders.
FINANCIAL REPORTING & ANALYSIS
  • Oversee the preparation and integrity of financial statements in accordance with USALI (12th Edition), Hyatt standards, and applicable accounting requirements.
  • Provide accurate and actionable financial analysis to support operational decision-making.
  • Monitor performance against budget, forecast, and business objectives, identifying opportunities to maximize revenue and improve cost effectiveness.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting for property leadership and relevant stakeholders.
COMPLIANCE, AUDIT & INTERNAL CONTROLS
  • Maintain strong internal controls aligned with Hyatt policies, standards, and governance requirements.
  • Lead internal and external audit processes and ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
  • Safeguard hotel assets, financial records, and confidential financial information.
  • Oversee cash flow, liquidity, treasury activities, and banking relationships.
  • Lead financial oversight of capital expenditure and support effective asset lifecycle management.
  • Ensure effective inventory, purchasing, and cost control practices in partnership with operational departments.
  • Identify financial risks and opportunities and ensure appropriate follow-up and action.
CREDIT, COLLECTIONS, PAYABLES & PAYROLL
  • Oversee credit policies, accounts receivable, and collection activities.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate vendor payments and strong accounts payable controls.
  • Provide financial oversight to support payroll accuracy and appropriate authorization processes.
  • Approve financial transactions in line with Hyatt governance and delegated authority.
LEADERSHIP & COLLEAGUE DEVELOPMENT
  • Lead, develop, and engage the Finance team through clear expectations, coaching, regular feedback, and meaningful development opportunities.
  • Foster Hyatt culture, values, care, and inclusion within the Finance function and across the hotel.
  • Provide financial guidance and business partnership to leaders across departments.
  • Build a collaborative, accountable, and service‑oriented Finance culture that supports both colleagues and hotel performance.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification such as CPA, CA, CMA, or equivalent is preferred.
  • 8-12+ years of progressive finance experience, including leadership responsibility.
  • Mandatory hospitality industry experience, preferable within an international hotel environment.
  • Strong knowledge of USALI (12th Edition), financial reporting, internal controls, audit, and compliance.
  • Experience working with non- Japanese ownership.
  • Excellent command of English is required
