Job description

Bessemer Investors ("BI") is a private equity firm focused on partnering with middle-market businesses to support growth and create lasting value. Founded in 2018 in partnership with Bessemer Securities, the family investment vehicle of the Phipps family, BI combines the capabilities of an institutional private equity firm with the benefits of patient family capital.

Bessemer Investors is a continuation of the Phipps family's more than century-long history of private capital investing. The Phipps family, who trace their wealth back to Henry Phipps's business partnership with Andrew Carnegie in Carnegie Steel, has a long-standing track record of establishing and supporting leading private investment firms such as Bessemer Venture Partners and Lindsay Goldberg. BI's differentiated capital base allows us to invest with a long-term perspective without being constrained by traditional fund cycles, ensuring alignment with founders, management teams, and other shareholders.

BI invests primarily in leading businesses across the industrials, business services, and consumer sectors. The firm has a collaborative, engaged culture built around active listening, thoughtful decision-making, and a shared commitment to achieving strong outcomes.

The Finance Associate will develop experience across fund and investment accounting, investor reporting, portfolio valuation, transaction execution, tax, treasury, and firm-level finance, while working closely with BI's investment professionals.

The successful candidate will initially support a range of finance workstreams and will be expected to take increasing ownership as they develop familiarity with the firm and its investments. The role is well suited for a highly motivated finance or accounting professional seeking to build a broad foundation within private equity alongside a growing private equity platform.

  • Participate in BI's quarterly portfolio valuation process, including supporting the preparation and review of quarterly valuations and memos.
  • Support the maintenance and preparation of realized and unrealized carried interest
  • Coordinate with the Bessemer Securities tax team and BI's tax advisor on partnership tax compliance, including review of tax returns and Schedule K-1s.

  • Help enhance BI's finance processes, systems, reporting, and internal controls as the firmgrows.
Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will combine a strong accounting and analytical foundation with intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and a willingness to operate across a broad range of responsibilities. Given the size of the team, the successful candidate should be hands-on, collaborative, and interested in developing beyond a narrowly defined accounting role.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, economics, or a related field.
  • Approximately 2-4 years of relevant professional experience, which may include public accounting, private equity or venture capital finance, and fund administration.
