Minimum Qualifications

  • Intern must be working towards a Bachelor's or Master's degree in actuarial science, mathematics, economics, finance, statistics or related field

As a Data Analyst Intern you will be using tools such as Microsoft Excel and SAS to identify, design, recommend, and execute solutions to clients. You will work with a team and alongside actuaries contributing to client and business analytics projects, primarily related to Medicaid Managed Care rate-setting. You will gain experience in aggregating, validating, and reviewing medical claims data, creating models to inform policy decision-making, and developing and deploying tools such as dashboards, infographics, and reports.

Essential Functions and Primary Duties

  • Assist in development of client deliverables including written documents.

  • Manage timelines including completion of client deliverables (Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, etc.).

  • Ensure all work products are technically peer reviewed and submitted for consulting review.

  • Actively communicate project status updates with internal team (junior and senior members).

  • Help support client teams with a combination of raw data analysis and aggregation to support external reporting.

  • Display initiative in research beyond the specific assignment.

  • Load, process, and analyze healthย care enrollment and claims / encounter data to support a variety of healthย care consulting projects.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cumulative GPA of 3.25 strongly preferredย 

  • Interest in healthcare finance and policy

  • Exposure to data analytical tools (Excel, Tableau, SAS, SQL, WPS, Python) is preferred

  • Broad analytical knowledge necessary to generate analytical solutions

  • Ability to build and maintain productive working relationships with others

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environmentย
