Position Summary: 
The Quality Control Inspector ensures that product meets customer requirements by comparing the physical product to the engineering drawing. Additionally, the Quality Control Inspector may participate in reviews and conformance checks of internal processes that support compliance to customer requirements such as receiving inspection, in process inspection, cutsheet accuracy and TransPak design accuracy. Quality Control Inspectors also contribute to maintain Quality Assurance functions such as moisture management, calibration, training, and ISO 9001 compliance.  They also record, monitor, and analyze data to pass on to the Operations, Sr. Management, and Quality teams.  

Essential Functions:  
Product Inspection 

  • Accepts or rejects completed work products by verifying the product or process meets the customer specifications and requirements through dimensional and visual inspection. 

  • Inspect product or process with specialized tools. This may include weighing or measuring finished products, assessing moisture content of wood, visually inspecting workmanship and/or gauging product reliability. 

  • Updates information in software to record, track and update data and assists in delivery of reports where required.  

  • Ensures all finished goods comply with the engineering drawing to include compliance to stenciling requirements, loose or miscellaneous material requirements and special handling requirements such as shock/tilts and unique customer labels. 

Improvement Recommendations 

  • Reviews specifications, standards and/or test plans of customer designs, and reports feedback to the Design department. 

  • Shares feedback with the manufacturing and support functions when nonconformances or inefficiencies are identified. 

  • Participates in ISO audits to ensure local and company-wide compliance to specified standards.  

Desired Education/Knowledge/Skills:  
 

  • 1 year of related manufacturing experience or demonstrated proficiency. 

  • 1 year minimum of quality inspection experience desired or demonstrated proficiency. 

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent. 

  • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and writing. Bilingual Spanish preferred. 

  • Proficient (intermediate skills) in the MS Suite (Word, Excel) and ability to learn proprietary software. 

  • Ability to read a tape measure down to 1/16”. 

  • Experience in interpreting engineering drawings to ensure product complies to the design. 

  • Ability and desire to work in a fast-paced, high-volume manufacturing environment.
