Job Description
We offer a competitive salary for this role, with an expected range of $58,000-$87,900/yr. The final offer will depend on your experience, skills, and overall qualifications. Operating in accordance with the BIW Business Operating System (BOS), the Accuracy Control Engineer ensures compliance with safety, quality, and performance standards while coordinating with other key stakeholders to meet overall milestones.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Leadership:
  • Take personal responsibility for your own safety through hazard identification and mitigation.
  • Ensure practices/processes are safely executed.
  • Communicate safety concerns and model safe behaviors.

Project Execution & Continuous Improvement:
  • Maintain, issue and assist with development of Accuracy Control documents and procedures.
  • Review and evaluate Accuracy Control surveyor data.
  • Collect structural alignment data at unit integration, monitor alignment trends and implement process changes as needed.

Team Collaboration and Communication:
  • Interface with Manufacturing on out of tolerance conditions and misalignments.
  • Support/enable/drive Accuracy Control process compliance on manufacturing shop floor throughout the main plant and at fabrication facilities.
  • May be required to work directly with a survey crew to monitor in-process structural condition of large assemblies during unit erection process in support of minimizing structural misalignment at Ultra join.

Quality:
  • Perform physical audits of structure location during the assembly process, some of which to include taking physical measurements in tanks or other confined locations and also at elevated surfaces.
  • Be knowledgeable on ship requirements relating to build plans, budgeted tolerances and contractual specifications.
  • Audit the completion and execution of Accuracy Control checks and be present on the deck plates.
  • Perform analysis of structural alignment data and initiate corrective action as required.

Required/Preferred Education/Training
  • High School or GED required.
  • Associate/bachelor's degree or Graduate Apprentice preferred.

Required/Preferred Experience
Accuracy Control Engineer I: 0-1 year shipbuilding or construction experience required.
Accuracy Control Engineer II: 1-2 years shipbuilding or construction experience required.
Accuracy Control Engineer III: 2-5 years shipbuilding or construction experience required.
  • Structural blueprint reading skills and/or experience with the use of mold loft data required.
  • Demonstrated experience with Excel and Power Point required, CAD and Catia preferred.
  • Experience interpreting 3D data required.
  • Knowledge of Lean problem-solving tools preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Ability to plan, organize and execute projects required.
  • Must be a self-starter and able to manage multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to function in a fast paced dynamic environment.
