Position Summary
The Quality Control Inspector II conducts more complex inspections of sub-assemblies, parts, fibers, and/or clean room products to ensure conformance with established quality standards. This role independently interprets work orders, drawings, and specifications, applies defined inspection criteria, and assigns failure modes in accordance with SOPs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Conduct more complex inspections of sub-assemblies, parts, fibers, and/or clean room products.
  • Interpret work orders, blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine inspection requirements.
  • Perform in process and finished goods inspections in accordance with SOPs and quality plans.
  • Use precision inspection and measurement tools to evaluate product conformance.
  • Apply established acceptance criteria and assign failure modes per SOPs.
  • Accurately document inspection results, measurements, and nonconformances in required systems.
  • Identify trends or recurring issues and escalate concerns to Quality, Engineering, or Manufacturing as appropriate.
  • Support less experienced inspectors by providing guidance on procedures and inspection criteria.
  • Maintain compliance with all safety, quality, ESD, and clean room requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of two years demonstrated experience performing inspections in a manufacturing or quality environment, usually as an entry level Quality Inspector.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong attention to detail and sound judgment in applying inspection criteria.
  • Proficiency with precision measurement and inspection tools.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and data entry.

Preferred
  • Technical or vocational training in manufacturing, quality, electronics, optics, or a related field.
  • Experience in clean room or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with root cause concepts and quality documentation practices.

Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Manufacturing and/or clean room environment.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, reach, and walk for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift between 15-30 lbs depending on department with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Frequent handling of small or delicate components requiring fine motor skills.
  • Compliance with all PPE and safety requirements.

Development & Progression
  • Role reflects increased independence, complexity, and judgment compared to QC Inspector I.
  • May progress to Senior Quality Inspector based on demonstrated expertise, experience and business needs.
