Job description

Position Summary

The Sales Engineer II is responsible for driving profitable growth by developing and managing customer relationships within the oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation, pipeline, and industrial markets. This role focuses on the sale of engineered filtration systems, oil cleaning solutions, centrifuge technology, emissions reduction equipment, and reliability services that improve equipment performance, reduce maintenance costs, and increase operating uptime.

The ideal candidate combines strong commercial skills with technical credibility and can effectively engage maintenance managers, reliability engineers, plant supervisors, operations leaders, and procurement teams. This individual will identify opportunities, develop technical and commercial solutions, manage the sales process, and grow long-term customer relationships.

This position is designed for a consultative salesperson who can translate customer operational challenges into value-driven reliability and filtration solutions.


Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales Growth

  • Develop and execute territory growth strategies to achieve annual bookings, revenue, and gross margin objectives.
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities within refining, petrochemical, upstream, midstream, LNG, pipeline, power generation, and industrial facilities.
  • Build relationships with maintenance, reliability, operations, engineering, and procurement decision-makers.
  • Generate demand for filtration systems, centrifuges, oil-cleaning equipment, emissions solutions, and reliability improvement programs.
  • Expand existing customer accounts through cross-selling and upselling opportunities.
  • Maintain a robust sales pipeline and provide accurate forecasting through CRM tools.

Customer Engagement

  • Conduct customer site visits to identify reliability, contamination control, lubrication, filtration, and rotating equipment improvement opportunities.
  • Lead customer presentations, technical reviews, and commercial proposals.
  • Develop business cases demonstrating cost savings, reduced downtime, longer equipment life, and improved operational performance.
  • Participate in industry events, trade associations, and customer networking activities.

Technical Solution Development

  • Evaluate customer applications and recommend appropriate filtration, centrifuge, oil purification, and reliability solutions.
  • Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to ensure solutions meet customer requirements.
  • Prepare technical quotations, proposals, ROI analyses, and project justifications.
  • Assist customers with troubleshooting and performance evaluations when necessary.

Commercial Management

  • Negotiate pricing, service agreements, and contractual terms.
  • Manage opportunities from initial prospecting through order execution and payment collection.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer investment plans.
  • Work closely with service, operations, and project management teams to ensure successful project execution and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Equivalent industry experience will be considered.

Experience

  • 5+ years of technical sales experience within oil & gas, petrochemical, industrial maintenance, rotating equipment, lubrication, filtration, reliability, or related industries.
  • Demonstrated success selling engineered products or industrial service solutions.
  • Experience calling on maintenance managers, reliability engineers, plant managers, operations leaders, and purchasing personnel.
  • Proven ability to develop new business and manage strategic customer relationships.

Compensation

Target Compensation Structure

Base Salary:$90,000 - $130,000

Variable Compensation:Commission plan tied to revenue and/or gross margin performance

On-Target Earnings (OTE):$160,000+
