THE SCHOOL BOARD OF MANATEE COUNTY
Local Title: HVAC FILTER CHANGER
State Title: HVAC MECHANIC
JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB CODE:
To plan, organize, implement and monitor an HVAC filter management plan.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Graduation from an accredited high school or trade school or possession of an acceptable equivalency diploma.
  2. Possession of a valid Florida Driver's License.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Some HVAC knowledge. Ability to prepare clear and concise oral and written reports. Ability to measure filter openings to provide proper replacements for the HVAC units. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, department heads and the public. Ability to plan, organize, implement and monitor an HVAC filter management plan. Ability to work from different heights and above ceilings or attic crawl spaces and roofs. Knowledge of the occupational hazards and the safety precautions of the trade. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.

Supervisor, Mechanical Systems

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Provide routine maintenance on all HVAC filters.
  2. Order and change A/C filters in all schools and ancillary facilities.
  3. Use proper methods and equipment necessary to perform HVAC filter changes to insure safety to district employees and him/herself.
  4. Work with vendors to ensure quality products are provided.
  5. Monitor HVAC units for special needs that deviate from scheduled filter change-outs.
  6. Develop and maintain tracking method with Utility Analyst for preventive maintenance scheduling.
  7. Maintain accurate records of daily work and time and payroll information.
  8. Follow safety standards in performing work and report unsafe conditions to Lead/Manager in a timely manner.
  9. May be required to return to work after hours and/or weekends.
  10. Travel outside of Manatee County as required in the performance of duties.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The employee is exposed to both indoor and outdoor environmental conditions. The employee must be able to meet deadlines with severe time constraints. The employee frequently will work irregular or extended work hours while performing the duties of this job. The employee regularly is required to lift, hold, carry, sit, stand, walk, climb crawl, bend, stoop, apply finger dexterity, grasp, feel, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear, and rely on visual acuity. The noise level in the work environment can be high at times. Safety is the highest priority.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with the District's approved compensation plan. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by the District.

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of personnel.
