A Film Writing Internship is a temporary position where students or aspiring writers gain hands-on experience in writing scripts, screenplays, reviews, or related content for the film industry. Interns often assist with script development, research, editing, and sometimes content creation for blogs or social media. This role provides valuable exposure to the workings of film production companies, studios, or entertainment media outlets, helping interns build their portfolios and industry connections. Film Writing Internships typically last a few months and may be offered for academic credit or as paid/unpaid opportunities.

What types of projects and responsibilities can I expect during a film writing internship?

As a Film Writing Intern, you can expect to work on a variety of projects, such as script analysis, drafting treatments or outlines, providing feedback on screenplays, and assisting with research for story development. Interns often collaborate closely with writers, producers, and sometimes directors, gaining valuable insight into the creative process and production pipeline. You'll likely participate in brainstorming sessions, attend team meetings, and help with administrative tasks related to script management. This hands-on experience is a great opportunity to build your writing portfolio and develop industry-specific skills.

Familiarity with industry-standard screenwriting software like Final Draft or Celtx is typically expected.
