What is film production?

Film production is the process of creating a movie or video project, from initial concept to finished product. It typically includes several stages: development (coming up with the story and script), pre-production (planning, casting, and preparing), production (actual filming), post-production (editing, sound, and visual effects), and distribution (sharing the film with audiences). The process involves a variety of professionals, such as producers, directors, camera operators, and editors, all working together to bring a creative vision to life.

What are the qualifications to get a job in film production?

The qualifications to get a job in film production differ greatly by position. For the most technical and creative positions, such as directing and cinematography work, you need to have years of experience. A technical background gained through years in the industry and a degree from a film school are often helpful. For motion picture editing, audio production set design, and other technical roles, you need an associate or bachelor’s degree in audio or video design, theater design, or a similar field. Crew jobs, such as location managers and scouts, should have a high school diploma and ample experience. To become a movie producer, you need strong leadership skills and organizational awareness.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in film production, and why are they important?

To thrive in Film Production, you need a strong understanding of storytelling, visual composition, and project management, often backed by a degree in film, media, or related experience. Familiarity with industry-standard cameras, editing software like Adobe Premiere Pro or Final Cut Pro, and production scheduling tools is crucial. Strong collaboration, problem-solving, and communication skills help you navigate on-set challenges and work effectively within diverse crews. These competencies ensure the successful execution of creative visions while meeting deadlines and budget constraints.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in film production, and how can they be managed?

Film production professionals often encounter challenges such as tight deadlines, budget constraints, and coordinating large teams with diverse roles. Managing these challenges requires strong organizational skills, clear communication, and the ability to adapt quickly to unexpected changes, such as weather disruptions or equipment issues. Building good working relationships with cast, crew, and stakeholders helps streamline decision-making and problem-solving throughout the production process.

Job description

High-End Marine & Automotive Detailer

Ceramic Coatings | Paint Correction | Marine Protection Film

Marine & Automotive Detailer — Ceramic Coatings & Paint Correction
Riviera Beach, FL · Full-Time · $18–$30/hour DOE

DNA Surface Concepts is an advanced surface protection company working on sport fishers, center consoles, and high-end vehicles throughout South Florida. We're hiring a detailer who takes real pride in the finish and wants to build a career, not just fill a shift.

Experience helps, but attitude and consistency matter more to us. We train — paid, on the clock, from day one. What we can't train is showing up.

What you'll do

  • Detail marine vessels and automobiles to a high-end standard
  • Prep and apply ceramic coatings (decon, polish, panel wipe, install)
  • Multi-stage paint correction and gel coat work
  • Assist with marine and automotive protection film installation
  • Maintenance washes on client vessels
  • Keep the shop, tools, and product inventory in order

What we're looking for

  • Detailing experience preferred, not required — we'll train the right person
  • Marine or automotive background a plus
  • Ceramic coating, paint correction, or PPF experience moves you to the top of the list
  • Comfortable working around boats, docks, and lifts
  • Valid Florida driver's license and an insurable driving record
  • Reliable transportation and consistent attendance — our schedule is client-driven

Physical requirements
This is physical work. You'll stand, kneel, bend, and reach for most of the day, lift up to 50 lbs, run buffers and polishers for extended periods, and work outdoors and aboard vessels in Florida heat and humidity.

What we offer

  • $18–$30/hour depending on experience — including during paid training
  • Performance bonus opportunities
  • Paid time off after your first anniversary
  • Manufacturer training and certification opportunities
  • Clear path to advancement — our senior techs came up through this role
  • Overtime available and paid
  • Free on-site parking
  • A team that documents its processes so you're set up to succeed, not guessing

Schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM. Occasional early starts or Saturdays during peak season, paid as overtime.

Location
3750 Investment Ln #1A, Riviera Beach, FL 33404

To apply
Apply through ZipRecruiter and tell us two things: how long you've been detailing, and the job you're proudest of. If you have photos of your work, send them — we'd rather see the finish than read about it.
