What does a film editing assistant do?

A Film Editing Assistant supports the main film editor by organizing and managing footage, preparing editing timelines, and ensuring all media is correctly labeled and stored. They often sync audio and video, create rough cuts, and handle technical tasks so the editor can focus on creative decisions. Editing assistants may also help with version tracking, file management, and communication between departments.
