Job description

Bunzl Processor Division is seeking an Assistant Machine Operator to support the production of high-quality vacuum pouches, assisting with machine operation, material preparation, product inspection, and production documentation. This position works closely with Machine Operators to ensure production runs are completed safely, efficiently, and according to established quality standards. The Assistant Machine Operator plays a key role in maintaining smooth production flow by supplying materials, performing quality checks, monitoring machine performance, and assisting with changeovers and production setups.

Responsibilities: 

  • Assist Machine Operators with machine setups, changeovers, and production runs.
  • Stage and prepare raw materials, film rolls, and production supplies required for manufacturing orders.
  • Load materials onto production equipment as directed by the Machine Operator.
  • Monitor machine operation and communicate quality, safety, or performance concerns to the Machine Operator.
  • Inspect vacuum pouches for seal integrity, appearance, dimensions, and other quality requirements.
  • Remove defective products and assist with troubleshooting minor production issues.
  • Assist in maintaining production efficiency by minimizing downtime and ensuring an uninterrupted flow of materials.
  • Accurately complete manufacturing orders, production paperwork, and required documentation.
    Record production counts, downtime events, scrap, and other operational data as required.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area throughout the shift.
  • Follow all company safety, quality, food safety, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
  • Assist Packagers, Machine Operators, and other production team members as needed to support production goals.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Operate material handling equipment and production support equipment in accordance with company policies, when authorized.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing, production, or machine operation experience preferred.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively.
  • Basic math skills required.
  • Mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn high-speed manufacturing equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to product quality.
