Job description

The team is seeking a Studio Operations and Support Consultant who thrives in a collaborative, mission-driven space and is eager to support cutting-edge audio facilities.

What You'll Do

Reporting to the Studio Operations and Support Manager, the Studio Operations and Support Consultant ensures the seamless operation of Berklee's 32 recording studios and suites. Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering top-tier technical assistance and troubleshooting for classes, daytime recording ensembles, grant sessions, and visiting artist events across specialized audio hardware, software, Dante, and video systems.

  • Maintaining facility flow by inspecting equipment, monitoring schedules, managing gear check-outs, and maintaining detailed logs in FileMaker Pro.

  • Co-supervising a team of 50 student Studio Assistants, guiding them on day-to-day procedures and troubleshooting.

  • Executing semesterly software and hardware testing, equipment maintenance, and participating in technology upgrade projects.

  • Supporting specialized equipment requests, including percussion inventory, and leading new user orientation sessions.

What We're Looking For

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's in Music Production and Engineering (or related music tech program) and 1-2 years in a commercial recording facility. Higher education experience is a plus.

  • Technical Mastery: Expertise in DAWs (Pro Tools, Logic, Ableton), signal flow, Dante, and high-end consoles (Neve 88RS, SSL Duality, API, Avid S6/HDX).

  • Skills: Excellent communication, strong organizational abilities, customer service mindset under pressure, and proficiency with Mac/Windows, Google Workspace, and ticketing systems.

  • Flexibility: Ability to work evening, weekend, and/or overnight shifts and lift up to 30 lbs.
