KIPP Indy Public Schools (KIPP Indy) was founded in 2004 with one class of fifth-grade students and has grown to serve 1,500 students across three schools. Of the students that attend KIPP Indy, 93% qualify for free and reduced lunch, 95% are African American or LatinX, 12% receive special education services, and 8% are designated as Emerging Bilinguals. Job Description
POSITION OVERVIEW
KIPP Indy is seeking a dedicated and passionate Elementary School Teacher who is committed to providing an engaging, student-centered learning environment where all students, regardless of age or background, can succeed. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of foundational literacy, hold high expectations for every student, and use age-appropriate interventions to meet diverse learning needs while fostering academic growth and social development.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned lessons in core subjects, including reading, writing, math, science, and social studies, with a strong focus on foundational literacy skills.
  • Use a variety of engaging, age-appropriate instructional strategies and resources to meet the diverse learning needs of all students, ensuring every child is actively involved in their learning.
  • Regularly assess student performance and leverage data to inform instructional decisions, providing targeted support and interventions to promote academic progress.
  • Maintain high expectations for all students, regardless of age or ability, and implement age-appropriate interventions that foster growth in both academic and social-emotional areas.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that fosters student engagement, curiosity, and a love of learning.
  • Build strong relationships with students and families, maintaining open communication to support student success and strengthen the school community.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum, share best practices, and ensure cohesive instructional planning.
  • Implement classroom management strategies that promote a respectful, responsible, and supportive classroom culture.
  • Provide individualized support for students who need additional academic or behavioral assistance, ensuring that all learners can meet their full potential.
  • Participate in school-wide events and family engagement activities to build a strong, supportive community.
  • Actively work with academic coaches to continuously improve instructional practices, embrace feedback, and implement strategies for professional growth.
  • Take ownership of your professional development by seeking out learning opportunities and reflecting on your teaching practices.

Qualifications
  • Valid Indiana teaching license or applying for reciprocity with a valid out-of-state license (required).
  • Bachelor's degree in elementary education or a related field (preferred)
  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of foundational literacy and child development (required).
  • Proven record of fostering academic success in diverse, underserved communities (preferred).
  • Experience in using data to guide instruction and improve student outcomes (preferred).
  • Unwavering commitment to KIPP Indy's mission and vision (required).
  • Pass a criminal background check, as required by law (required).

Additional Information
Licensed teacher starting at $50,000
Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a highly competitive benefits package. Opportunities for performance-based bonuses are also available.
