About the role
Epiphany School seeks a part-time Math Instructional Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year to support math instruction in our upper elementary division, specifically in fourth and fifth grades.
The Math Instructional Assistant works in close collaboration with the 4th and 5th grade teaching teams, the Upper Division Math Specialist, and the Upper Elementary Assistant Head of School to support high-quality, engaging math instruction for all learners. Responsibilities include assisting with curriculum implementation, preparing instructional materials, supporting assessment and data collection, organizing math resources, and working directly with students in whole-class, small group, and one-on-one settings. This role also plays a key part in facilitating enrichment and extension opportunities for highly capable students.
The ideal candidate is a collaborative, organized, flexible, and student-centered educator who is enthusiastic about math instruction and eager to learn and grow alongside a team. This individual thrives in a dynamic learning environment, is responsive to feedback, a strong communicator, and brings a commitment to equitable practices and inclusive learning experiences.
This is a non-exempt, part-time, academic-year position reporting directly to the Upper Elementary Assistant Head of School and works under the guidance and observation of the 4th and 5th grade teaching teams and the Upper Division Math Specialist.
Location
The person in this role must work in-person on the school campus in the Madrona neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Epiphany School does not cover or reimburse relocation costs and/or expenses.
Standard work hours for this position are Monday - Friday 8:15am - 12:15pm.
Expected start date for the 2026-27 school year is August 19, 2026, to attend new employee orientation (8/19/26 - 8/20/27), pre-service the week of August 24th, and first day of school is September 1st, 2026. Expected end date is June 15th, 2027.
What you'll do
Primary Responsibilities
  • Assist classroom teachers and the Upper Division Math Specialist with planning, creating, and preparing materials for math instruction.
  • Work with students during math instruction in whole-class, small group, and one-on-one settings.
  • Support grading, scoring, and accurate recording of math assessments.
  • Lead or support small-group instruction, re-teaching, and enrichment during math blocks.
  • Facilitate math extension opportunities, particularly for highly capable learners.
  • Collaborate with the 4th and 5th grade teaching teams and the Upper Division Math Specialist to align instructional goals and support student learning.
  • Organize, maintain, and manage math materials, manipulatives, and instructional centers.
  • Prepare and restore instructional spaces and materials to ensure readiness for lessons.
  • Support the student assessment process and assist teachers in monitoring student progress.
  • Participate in team meetings, planning sessions, and professional learning opportunities as appropriate.

Typical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field(s) or a combination of education and experience preferred
  • Coursework or background in education or mathematics desired
  • Experience teaching or working with children in upper elementary, 4th/5th grades preferred

  • Strong interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Experience and comfort working in a Microsoft environment including MS Office
  • Must be collaborative, proactive, resourceful, and organized

Compensation & Benefits
The salary range for this role is prorated based on full-time equivalency between $23,789 - $29,666, according to Epiphany School's instructional assistant pay scale and based on years of experience. When determining an initial offer, we carefully consider these factors and will ask the intended hire for documentation to verify the correct pay level.
While this role is not eligible to receive the full benefits package, these benefits are still included:
