Job description

Math Tutor (Grades 7–12) — Hybrid, Part-Time

ThrivePoint Academy of Utah

ThrivePoint Academy of Utah is seeking a patient, encouraging Math Tutor to support students in grades 7–12 who need additional help mastering foundational and course-level math skills. This is a hybrid, part-time afternoon position — perfect for a college student, retired educator, or math-minded professional who enjoys helping students build confidence.

Position Details
  • Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 1:30–4:30 PM (12 hours/week)
  • Format: Hybrid — two days on-site at our Learning Center, two days remote
  • Reports to: School Director, in close collaboration with the Math Teacher
What You'll Do
  • Provide one-on-one math tutoring for students in grades 7–12, both in person and virtually
  • Work closely with the Math Teacher to align tutoring support with current coursework, intervention goals, and student progress data
  • Use school-provided technology — including a digital whiteboard tool — to deliver engaging, interactive support during remote sessions
  • Help students strengthen foundational skills, complete coursework, and prepare for assessments
  • Track student attendance and progress, and communicate regularly with the Math Teacher about student needs
  • Model and reinforce LMEG behaviors in every student interaction
What We're Looking For
  • Strong command of math content
  • Experience tutoring, teaching, or mentoring adolescents preferred
  • Comfort working with technology and learning new digital tools quickly
  • Patience, warmth, and a genuine belief that every student can succeed in math
  • Reliability and professionalism in both in-person and remote settings
  • Must pass a background check
What We Provide
  • All technology needed for the role, including a digital whiteboard tool for virtual tutoring
  • Training and ongoing collaboration with our Math Teacher and instructional team
  • A supportive, student-centered school community serving both online and in-person learners
