A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Cook

As a Cook at River Oaks of Minnesota, you are on the front line of enhancing residents’ daily living experience by overseeing high-quality dining services, ensuring nutritional needs are met, and maintaining safe, compliant food service operations. Your responsibilities include:

  • Prepares and serves safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals for residents in an assisted living environment.
  • Follows standardized recipes and therapeutic diet guidelines to meet individual resident dietary needs.
  • Assists with daily kitchen operations, including food prep, cooking, plating, and timely meal service.
  • Maintains compliance with food safety standards, proper sanitation practices, and assisted living regulations.
  • Monitors food quality, proper portioning, and safe food storage procedures.
  • Assists with inventory management, proper stock rotation (FIFO), and notifying supervisor of needed supplies.
  • Engages respectfully with residents during meal service, accommodating preferences within dietary guidelines.
  • Supports a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen environment while collaborating with dietary and nursing staff.
