Essential Duties
  • Work at the ASU MIR Center/Ranch with show cattle to include the daily care of, feeding, washing, and exercise of animals under the direct supervision of Allee Kirkey, Shelley New Cattle Program Coordinator and Assistant Ranch Manager.
  • Maintain facilities related to the show barn.
  • Prepare show cattle for exhibition.
  • Report to Show Coordinator when show supplies are needed.
  • Other duties, as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • Must be a currently enrolled student and registered for classes.
  • Must have held a driver's license for 2 years and pass a driver approval background check.
  • Expected to work some weekends, and travel to livestock shows.
  • Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0.
  • Transportation to/from the ranch is needed.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Background with general show cattle husbandry practices.
  • Ability to fit and prepare show cattle prior to show (preferred, not required).
  • Ability to clip show cattle.
  • Ability to work well with others.

Physical Demands
Ability to pick up and carry a minimum of 50 lbs.
Ability to work standing, including heavy lifting, moving livestock, moving about on concrete, in pastures, fields, and livestock pens.
Ability to work with pesticides in an environment which includes exposure to dust, pollen, chemicals, foul odors, and extreme heat and cold.
Salary
$12 an hour
