Responsibilities

DLZ Corporation is seeking experienced Senior Field Technicians for projects in Michigan! This is an excellent opportunity to develop new skills and work hard in a dynamic environment. DLZ will provide the necessary training for you to succeed in this role.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform field sampling, testing, and inspection of soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete on active construction sites
  • Interpret project plans, specifications, and testing requirements
  • Accurately collect, document, and report field data and daily construction quantities
  • Communicate effectively with contractors, owners, and internal team members
  • Maintain assigned vehicles, testing equipment, and safety standards
  • Follow all DLZ health, safety, and public safety procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of materials testing experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Required certifications/training:
    • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Level I
    • Nuclear Densometer Safety Training
    • MDOT Density Control Certification
  • Ability to frequently lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors in varying conditions
  • Valid driver’s license with satisfactory driving record, and ability to pass background check and drug testing (including marijuana)
  • Ability to safely traverse active construction sites and comply with all safety requirements
  • Willingness to travel throughout Michigan and the tri-state area.

Preferred Qualifications (Bonus Points!):

  • Experience with Metafield or similar reporting software
  • OSHA 10 Hour or MUST Safety certification
  • ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician – Level II
  • MDOT Aggregate Sampling and/or Inspection Certification (Level I)
  • MDOT HMA Sampling Certification
  • Experience with Floor Flatness testing
