Job description

Sitemetric seeks an experienced Field Tech III to take ownership of advanced customer deployments and lead a team of skilled field technicians supporting our growing network of construction technology installations. This role goes beyond individual project execution — you will train and mentor new hires, oversee a pod of Field Techs, and ensure that Sitemetric standards for excellence, safety, and reliability are met across multiple sites.

We’re looking for a hands-on technical leader who thrives in dynamic environments, excels at solving complex field challenges, and takes pride in developing others while delivering high-quality outcomes for our clients. If you are motivated by technology, team leadership, and shaping how construction tech is deployed nationwide, this role is for you.

About Sitemetric

At Sitemetric, we turn technology into services that transform how the world is built.

This enables our customers to lead the change in critical areas of construction operations: workforce, safety, security, reporting, communications, logistics, and more.

We work closely with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, and construction workers to customize offerings to their needs, including digital onboarding, smart badging, real-time location systems, messaging and mass texting, integrated turnstiles, real-time reporting, emergency mustering, and more.

We currently serve as trusted partner to a growing number of the US’s largest, most forward-looking owners and contractors, working with them to ensure what we offer meets their evolving needs, with thousands of companies and workers already on the Sitemetric platform. Together, we are leading the change in how the world is built.

About the Role

As Field Tech III you will be a critical member of our on-the-ground team, ensuring smooth operations and optimal technology performance on customer construction sites.

Working closely with leadership, you will be responsible for deploying and configuring IoT sensor systems; ensuring all devices are properly installed and connected; management of wireless network infrastructure across job sites, documentation and other support related to system performance, technical optimization, and other responsibilities as needed. This role ensures that critical data relating to site operations is appropriately captured and transmitted so that customers have accurate, real-time insights to make important decisions.

The Field Tech III plays a pivotal role in ensuring operational excellence across customer construction sites. Beyond performing installations and technology deployments, this position includes field leadership — managing a small team (or “pod”) of Field Techs, providing real-time technical oversight, and ensuring adherence to company standards and project specifications.

The Field Tech III will also serve as an on-site mentor and trainer for new and junior technicians, instilling Sitemetric’s values of quality, safety, and reliability while maintaining high performance and accountability across the team.

Key Responsibilities

This position requires in-person work at one or more Sitemetric jobsites in the local area. These jobsites are often construction sites. Work-related travel within the United States may be required.

Core responsibilities include:

  1. Training of New Field Tech Hires: Provide on-the-job training, mentorship, and performance feedback to junior and mid-level technicians.
  2. Management of Pod of 2-5 Field Techs: Manage a pod of Field Techs (typically 3–5 technicians), coordinating daily assignments, work quality, safety compliance, and travel schedules.
  3. Deploy and Install IoT Systems: Execute on-site installation and deployment of industrial sensor technologies, including environmental sensors, motion detection systems, proximity sensors, BLE, NFC, LTE, and RFID devices according to specifications and project requirements.
  4. Perform System Configuration and Testing: Configure IoT devices, establish wireless network connections, and conduct thorough testing to ensure proper functionality, data transmission, and system integration with enterprise platforms.
  5. Conduct On-Site Maintenance and Troubleshooting: Diagnose technical issues, perform repairs, replace faulty components, and troubleshoot connectivity problems to restore systems to full operational capacity.
  6. Document and Report Field Activities: Maintain accurate documentation of installation details, maintenance performed, system performance, and customer interactions; provide timely reports to management.
  7. Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work effectively with enterprise implementation teams, customer stakeholders, and back-office support to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
  8. Manage Field Operations Independently: Organize daily activities, manage time effectively, coordinate travel logistics, and prioritize multiple site visits while maintaining high standards of professionalism and accountability.

Qualifications

  • 7+ years of hands-on experience installing and deploying industrial sensor technologies (environmental, motion, proximity, BLE, NFC, LTE, RFID, or similar)
  • 3+ years working in construction technology, industrial automation, or similar field deployed technology environments.
  • CompTIA A+, Network+, or similar certifications
  • OSHA 10 or 30 (Construction Site Safety)
  • Familiarity with Cloud platforms and basic understanding of data integration
  • Ability to quickly establish and maintain effective and respectful working relationships with customers, co-workers, and all people on the job site.
  • Detail orientation and ability to prioritize tasks and responsibilities in dynamic work environment
  • Reliable means of transportation to the jobsite
  • Willingness to participate in pre-employment screening process (drug screen and background checks)
  • Proven experience working in construction, industrial or technology field environments with familiarity in Access Control Systems, Networking (Wired/Wireless), Cameras or IoT devices, Low-voltage systems and structured cabling
  • Current license to operate a motor vehicle may be required at some job sites
  • Competence with mobile device configuration, scanners, or tablets used in the field

Preferred

  • 2+ years of on-the-ground construction or industrial experience
  • Background with access control systems or security technologies
  • Associate degree or technical certification in electronics, networking, IT or a related field
  • Adaptable, flexible, and able to solve complex challenges within and outside assigned responsibilities

Physical Environment and Physical Work

Most of Sitemetric’s job sites are active construction sites. Employees regularly work outside in covered areas.  Sitting, moving frequently to standing position, reaching and moving around the site are required.
