Position Overview

The Lead Field Service Technician is responsible for performing and overseeing field service operations in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. This role combines hands-on field work with office-based responsibilities, including scheduling, technical support, quality assurance, and coordination with internal teams. The Lead Field Service Technician is responsible for ensuring the successful completion of all residential service and warranty work while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities and Duties
  • Perform and oversee the completion of residential service and warranty-related projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to Field Service Technicians.
  • Assist with scheduling, dispatching, and coordinating daily service activities.
  • Conduct quality audits following installations and completed service work.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve residential solar warranty and service issues involving PV modules, monitoring systems, inverters, and battery storage systems.
  • Investigate, mitigate, and repair reported roof leaks.
  • Troubleshoot AC and DC electrical systems.
  • Assist with training and onboarding new Field Service Technicians.
  • Review service documentation for accuracy and ensure cases and tickets are properly completed and closed in the CRM system.
  • Coordinate with office staff, manufacturers, and customers to ensure timely resolution of service requests.
  • Participate in weekly safety meetings and departmental meetings while promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Maintain inventory of service materials, equipment, and company vehicles as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in the solar industry.
  • Previous solar service experience required.
  • Solar battery installation and troubleshooting experience required.
  • Previous leadership, mentoring, or lead technician experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Enphase, Tesla, and SolarEdge monitoring systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills for residential PV and battery systems.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with employees, customers, and vendors.
  • Ability to work in challenging environments (heat, cold, wind, confined spaces, rooftops, etc.).
  • Capable of standing for extended periods and working at heights, including climbing ladders and stairs.
  • Willingness to travel throughout California as needed.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
