Job description

Job Description:

This position is responsible for the installation, inspection, troubleshooting, calibration, and service of customer instrumentation and controls. Ideal candidates will be able to work inside or outside as required by instrument location and based on scheduled visits and emergency conditions. Complete, accurate, and detailed service reports will be submitted upon completion of each service or emergency visit(s). Field Service Technicians are expected to provide technical leadership, expertise, troubleshooting, support, and training to support plant operations as well as service demands.


Minimum Qualifications:

• (3) years of related experience (i.e. treatment plant operations, chemical plant operations)

• Familiarity with instrumentation installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, configuration, etc.

• Ability to lift 50+ lbs.

• Ability to successfully complete Confined Space Certification and Haz-Comm course

• Valid Driver’s License


Position Requirements:

• Able to install, set up, calibrate, troubleshoot a variety of instrumentation such as:

o Flow, Pressure, and Level Indicators

o pH, Dissolved Oxygen, and Chlorine Analyzers

• Familiar with low voltage as well as 120-240-volt circuits and controls

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematic wiring diagrams

• Ability to use hand tools for cutting, drilling, sawing, etc. as it relates to the installation of equipment

• Must be self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (specifically Word & Excel)

• Working knowledge of instruments, typical municipal and industrial waste treatment processes

• ISA CCST Level 1 Certification (preferred)

• Must have strong technical and communication skills

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and access instruments on tanks & sumps as required

• Confined Space Certification (preferred; training can be provided for certification)

• Team collaboration and training

• Field instrumentation knowledge, testing, and calibration

• Knowledge of flow, level, pressure and analytical instrumentation

• Control panels and system wiring and troubleshooting


Duties and Responsibilities:

• Field service of control panels, instrumentation, and associated field wiring

• Instrumentation initial startup, calibration, and troubleshooting

• Troubleshooting control circuits, 120VAC, 24VDC, 240VAC, 480VAC

• Troubleshooting instrument loops, 2-wire & 4-wire

• Interfacing with customers for technical support (on-site, phone, email, etc.)

• Provide field service for customer requested and scheduled service calls

• Electrical troubleshooting

• VFD familiarity and troubleshooting

• Completion of Service Tickets and Reports
