Field Sales Representative

POSITION SUMMARY

The Field Sales Representative works as part of the sales team to develop, promote, qualify, support, maintain and grow business for the BinTrac product line. This role will help the business obtain profitable growth and customer loyalty through effective marketing: targeting, development, sales support and knowledge.

This position may be located remote, ideally within the southern or southeastern region of the US.

WHAT WE WILL ASK YOU TO DO:

  • Promote and support all product line sales to meet or exceed pre-established forecasts.
  • Develop relationships within the integrator's live production management team, field techs, dealers and customers, with the goal of getting BinTrac included on their new build specifications.
  • Assist and train industry dealers with promoting products directly to integrators across the poultry and swine industries.
  • Research, discuss and promote new products to help diversify BinTrac within the market.
  • Actively engage in and support all in-house sales activities across all products.
  • Provide quality and timely technical support and training to customers, dealers, and integrators.
  • Listen to customers' needs and problems they are trying to solve and a) help solve their requirements by suggesting the best use of our product configurations, and b) communicate back to the team product needs and enhancements that are being requested in the marketplace.
  • Attend various trade shows, dealer open houses, and other industry-related events during the year to promote HerdStar's products.
  • Create awareness, identify and develop opportunities for BinTrac to be included as a requirement for existing bins within complexes.
  • Promote and develop awareness bin monitoring and batching solutions which can be applied across an entire complex with options for cloud-based remote monitoring and management.
  • Work closely with the sales and marketing team in coordinating sales efforts, defining sales messages, and identifying and sharing opportunities.
  • Work with service team to deal with any reported product issues to help maintain a high level of customer support.
  • Develop a detailed business plan to meet or exceed the sales forecast, which will be provided quarterly to the Sales Manager.
  • Prepare and present accurate product quotes.
  • Regularly communicate sales activity and goals to the sales team, which include actively participating in weekly conference calls, monthly and quarterly reporting of successful sales, and new future sales opportunities and new connections made.
  • Develop, build, strengthen and maintain positive business relationships with HerdStar customers including dealers and key customers, and other industry suppliers/partners.
  • Document customer interactions, and maintain sales data related activities, accounts, and partners, ensuring potential customer and existing customer contact information is maintained and updated.
  • All other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU SHOULD BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Requires 5-7 years of sales and/or management experience in agricultural product sales.
  • Experience selling through dealer networks is highly desirable.
  • BA or BS degree or equivalent in Agriculture, Agribusiness, or Animal Science is preferred.
  • Bi-lingual in Spanish strongly preferred but not required.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills and relationship talent.
  • Superior customer service and follow through with the ability to build and maintain positive client relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere.
  • Good organizational skills, well disciplined, and able to meet deadlines, self-starter.
  • Ability to work under pressure of many priorities and deadlines; effective problem solver.
  • Ability to travel extensively up to 75-80%, including headquarters as necessary.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid passport.
  • You must possess and maintain a safe driving record and a valid state license.
  • General computer knowledge using Microsoft Office Suite and CRM.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THIS POSITION:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk; sit; and climb stairs on rugged and uneven surfaces.
  • Requires working in outdoor environments throughout the year.
  • Requires lifting and the movement of equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without accommodation.
  • Must be able to read printed materials and computer monitors.

  • Hearing protection and other PPE may occasionally be required.
