The Field Safety Specialist is responsible for monitoring driver’s/contractor's compliance, overseeing safety documentation, conducting truck and terminal inspections, and delivering new driver/contractor orientations. The Field Safety Specialist works closely with terminal operations, onboarding, and safety teams to ensure adherence to Hours of Service regulations, ELD requirements, and company safety standards. Success in this position requires strong attention to detail, knowledge of intermodal trucking, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities:
  • DOT/FMCSA compliance support and driver/contractor safety oversight
  • Monitor Hours of Service, unsafe driving events, Form amp; Manner, and Unidentified Driving Events within our ELD platform to ensure full compliance of our drivers/contractors
  • Accident/incident response, investigation support, and corrective action follow up
  • Complete orientation for new company drivers/contractors
  • Assist Onboarding Team in collecting necessary applicant documents
  • Perform Terminal, yard and field safety inspections
  • Oversee driver/contractor and truck expirations by collecting documents for Safety Compliance representative such as updated DOT physicals, CDL, truck registrations, etc.
  • Work with and train terminal operations staff in safety related issues
  • Schedule: Mon - Fri; 7a - 4p
Qualifications:
  • Experience in intermodal container drayage and trucking
  • Knowledge of MS Outlook and Excel
  • Able to efficiently multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Solid attention to detail with a strong attendance record and positive attitude
  • Ability to promote teamwork and cross-functional collaboration
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
