Job Summary:

Position Summary
The Field Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations in support of the Washington DOT program, including direct supervision of Mobile Operators. This role ensures safe, compliant, and efficient deployment of traffic enforcement equipment and personnel, while maintaining high standards of vehicle readiness, employee performance, and contract adherence.

Key Responsibilities
Field Operations Management
  • Supervise and coordinate daily activities of Mobile Operators assigned to field deployments
  • Ensure timely and accurate deployment of vehicles and traffic camera systems to designated locations
  • Monitor field operations to ensure productivity, uptime, and adherence to schedules
  • Respond to and resolve operational issues in real time, including equipment or personnel challenges
Contract Compliance & Quality Assurance
  • Ensure all operations comply with WSDOT contract requirements, company policies, and applicable regulations
  • Conduct routine audits of field activity, documentation, and system usage
  • Maintain accurate records related to deployments, incidents, and performance metrics
  • Partner with leadership to prepare for and support audits, inspections, and reporting requirements
Fleet & Equipment Oversight
  • Enforce standards for vehicle cleanliness, organization, and overall condition
  • Ensure all vehicles are properly maintained, fueled/charged, and operationally ready
  • Oversee proper handling, setup, and security of traffic enforcement equipment
  • Coordinate maintenance and repairs as needed
People Leadership & Talent Development
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance management for Mobile Operators
  • Train new hires on field procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation
  • Conduct regular ride-alongs, field observations, and performance evaluations
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement
  • Address employee relations issues promptly and escalate as appropriate
Safety & Risk Management
  • Promote and enforce a strong safety culture in all field operations
  • Ensure compliance with all driving, equipment, and roadside safety protocols
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, or near-misses and implement corrective actions
Communication & Coordination
  • Serve as the primary point of contact between field staff and operations leadership
  • Coordinate with internal teams (e.g., maintenance, compliance, scheduling) to support operations
  • Provide regular updates on field performance, risks, and operational needs
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience in field operations, transportation, logistics, or a related environment
  • Experience managing distributed or mobile workforces preferred
  • Strong knowledge of safety practices and regulatory compliance in field-based operations
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to travel locally/regionally and work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, or weekends as needed
