About the Program

The Field Representative Development Program is a structured development experience designed to prepare early-career professionals for field-based roles supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers around the world. Participants gain a broad understanding of Caterpillar's products, services, customers, and dealer network while developing the business, technical, and relationship-building skills necessary for long-term success.

Your Development Journey
  • 13-Week Immersive Training Experience

Your development begins with a 13-week in-person training experience in Peoria, Illinois, where you will: Build foundational knowledge of Caterpillar products, services, and industries; Develop sales, technical, communication, and leadership skills; Learn how Caterpillar partners with dealers and customers to solve complex challenges; Network with peers, leaders, and subject matter experts across the organization.

Rotational Experiences

Following training, participants complete developmental assignments designed to broaden their business knowledge and industry expertise, including exposure to:

  • Product and service support
  • Customer and dealer engagement
  • Commercial and business strategy
  • Marketing and sales operations

Representative Career Paths
  • Industry Technical Representative (ITR): Provides technical expertise to resolve customer challenges while supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers in the field.
  • Industry Sales Representative (ISR): Leads machine or engine sales activities within a specific industry segment while supporting dealer sales performance and growth.
  • Aftermarket Sales Representative (ASR): Supports Caterpillar's services growth strategy through parts, service, and aftermarket sales initiatives.
  • Industry Aftermarket Representative (IAR): Partners with dealers to improve service operations, customer support, and aftermarket business performance.
  • Rental Representative: Supports dealer rental operations by identifying opportunities to improve performance, processes, and profitability.
  • Product Support Operations Representative (PSOR): Focuses on product support strategies and operational excellence initiatives that enhance dealer and customer experience.

Basic Qualifications

  • Willingness to travel up to 50-75%
  • Willingness to relocate domestically based on business needs
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States now and in the future

Summary Pay Range

Pay Range: $81,370.00 - $169,060.00 Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
