Field Integrator information

What is a field integrator?

Field Integrators are professionals who install, configure, and optimize complex systems or equipment at client sites, ensuring that all components work together seamlessly. They often work with technologies such as telecommunications, industrial automation, or IT infrastructure, bridging the gap between hardware, software, and operational requirements. Their role includes troubleshooting, testing, and training end-users to ensure the successful deployment and integration of solutions in the field.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a field integrator?

To thrive as a Field Integrator, you need a strong background in systems integration, electronics, and troubleshooting, often supported by a relevant technical degree or certification. Familiarity with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), networking tools, and specific industry software is typically required. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and adaptability are crucial soft skills for working on-site with clients and diverse teams. These skills and qualifications are essential to ensure seamless system deployments and effective resolution of technical challenges in dynamic field environments.

What are some common challenges faced by field integrators when coordinating with on-site teams?

Field Integrators often encounter challenges such as aligning technical requirements across multiple contractors, adapting to rapidly changing site conditions, and ensuring all parties follow standardized procedures. Effective communication and problem-solving skills are key, as integrators must bridge the gap between engineering teams, project managers, and on-site personnel. Proactively addressing logistical issues and maintaining flexibility helps ensure successful system integration and project timelines.

Job description

Description
Under general supervision, the Field Sales Engineer will support and train the sales channel across intrusion detection, access control, and video surveillance - helping dealers, systems integrators, and enterprise end-users design, evaluate, and deploy DMP's industry-leading security solutions. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in intrusion systems, access control and video products. You'll thrive in a fast-paced, technical sales environment and serve as the critical bridge between DMP's product capabilities and the real-world needs of dealers and enterprise customers across North America. This position will cover AK, WA, OR, ID, MT, WY, NV, and Northern California.
Fundamental Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in a pre-sales, sales engineering, or technical support role within the physical security industry.
  • Hands-on knowledge of intrusion detection systems, including control panels, keypads, communicators, sensors, and central station monitoring workflows.
  • Working knowledge of access control platforms and video surveillance systems (VMS, IP cameras, NVRs) as complementary disciplines.
  • Solid understanding of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, cellular and broadband communications, and cybersecurity best practices as they apply to security devices.
  • Experience working with and supporting security dealers and integrators, as well as enterprise end-users.
  • Strong ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, accessible language for non-technical audiences.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with confidence presenting to both technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel within North America (estimated 25-40%).
  • Accept and benefit from constructive performance feedback.
  • Any other equivalent combination of training and experience.

Additionally Valued Qualifications:
  • Industry certifications such as PSP, ASIS, BICSI, ESA/NTS, or manufacturer-specific credentials.
  • Familiarity with central station monitoring platforms and UL-listed installation requirements.
  • Experience with DMP products or comparable intrusion panel manufacturers (Bosch, Honeywell, DSC, Napco).
  • Knowledge of enterprise security procurement processes or commercial/government verticals.

Typical Duties and Responsibilities:
Pre-Sales & System Design
  • Serve as a primary technical resource for the North American sales team and dealer/integrator network.
  • Design and scope integrated security systems with a primary focus on intrusion detection panels and peripheral devices, alongside access control and video surveillance components.
  • Respond to technical inquiries, RFPs, and proof-of-concept requests in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Deliver compelling technical presentations and product demonstrations to dealers, integrators, and enterprise end-users.
  • Conduct site assessments and produce system design documentation, including panel configurations, zone layouts, network architecture, and device schedules for intrusion and fire alarm systems.

Channel and Customer Enablement
  • Travel onsite to support dealers and integrators with training, programming guidance, and system commissioning.
  • Lead sales and technical training sessions covering DMP intrusion panels, access control, and video integration for both channel partners and end-user customers.
  • Manage pilot and proof-of-concept projects on behalf of the sales team, ensuring successful outcomes and clear documentation.
  • Act as a trusted technical advisor to dealers and enterprise clients throughout the sales cycle and transition to post-sale support.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Partner with product, engineering, and support teams to relay field feedback and influence the product roadmap.
  • Collaborate with sales leadership to continuously improve the impact and scalability of the Sales Engineering function.
  • Contribute to the development of technical collateral, including application notes, programming guides, configuration documentation, and best practice resources.
  • Observe and adhere to DMP Data Classification policy.
  • Observe company policies. Continuously review processes to improve efficiency while maintaining conformance to requirements and fostering effective internal customer relationships.
  • May perform related duties or fill in for others in the department or other departments when requested.
  • May train or instruct fellow workers regarding their duties.
