Are you ready to launch your geophysics career and make an impact in the energy sector? Cenovus is looking for a curious, engaged, and driven Geophysicist-in-Training to join our New Grad Program. This is your opportunity to take on real energy challenges, grow your skills, and help shape the future of our industry.

Over the course of the three-year program, you'll be paired with experienced geophysics professionals who will mentor you through each rotation and support your technical and professional growth. Each rotation offers the opportunity to explore different development areas across our portfolio of assets including SAGD oilsands, heavy oil, unconventionals, and offshore.
Note: The application deadline for this position is 11:59 pm MST on August 31, 2026.
What you'll do
Responsibilities may include:
Interpret seismic data to build structure, amplitude, thickness, and attribute maps to better understand the reservoir.
Generate and interpret advanced seismic products, including pre-stack and post-stack inversion and 4D seismic data.
Build accurate depth conversions of seismic volumes and interpreted subsurface horizons.
Establish and maintain geophysical databases (horizons, well logs, and seismic volumes) while ensuring data quality and integrity.
Use geophysical software (SeisWare, Petrel, Hampson Russell, etc.) to analyze and interpret subsurface data.
Work as part of a multidisciplinary team including Geologists and Engineers to evaluate and present development opportunities.
Work alongside the Acquisition team to design and acquire fit-for-purpose seismic surveys.
Communicate findings to the broader geoscience and subsurface teams.
Who you are
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum qualifications:
