POSITION OVERVIEW: As an Party Chief at LJA Surveying, you will be responsible for transporting and setting up instruments and equipment associated with surveying land and preparing job site for survey

A TYPICAL DAY MIGHT INCLUDE:

  • Be proficient in running all surveying equipment (Trimble or Topcon GPS with data collects)  and Trimble Robotic total stations with data collectors.
  • Use Level instruments to run level loops to get the best vertical control and better accuracy when performing topographic surveys in parking areas and along street and roads for engineering design.
  • Party chief should be able to calculate the position of property corners on properties and along street and road right-of -ways.
  • Be able to prepare a working sketch of a metes and bounds description or field notes description of a property.
  • With working sketch and metes and bounds description, the party chief should be able to locate sufficient property corners to set the missing corners before leaving the sit, if possible.
  • When locating the property corners, party chief should take photos of the property corner found, including measuring the size of the corner found and include the point number when the property corner is tied in.
  • Upload existing text files into the data collector for each project, as well and downloading the data and creating a text file for CAD work.
  • Good note keeper that pays attention to details and follows instructions.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:

  • HS Graduate or GED

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong communication skills both oral and written
  • Ability to build strong relationships with internal and external clients  

Physical Requirements:

  • Occasional lifting/carrying of 25 pounds and up to 50 pounds
  • Driving to and from various project sites
  • Walking and working outdoors under variable weather conditions. 
  • Heavy Travel
