Description

The Field Project Controls Analyst is responsible for supporting the successful execution of capital projects by providing project controls expertise in cost management, forecasting, financial analysis, progress measurement, and performance reporting. This role partners closely with field construction teams, project managers, engineering, procurement, and finance stakeholders to ensure accurate project forecasting, cost visibility, and timely decision-making. This position plays a critical role in maintaining project financial health throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Controls & Cost Management

  • Develop, maintain, and analyze project budgets, forecasts, commitments, accruals, and cash flow projections.
  • Monitor project expenditures and progress against approved budgets and schedules.
  • Prepare monthly cost reports, variance analyses, and forecasting updates for project leadership and stakeholders.
  • Analyze project performance and identify trends, risks, and opportunities impacting project outcomes.
  • Support change management processes by evaluating cost and schedule impacts of scope changes.

Performance Reporting & Analytics

  • Maintain project performance metrics, including earned value-style measurements and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Maintain dashboards and reporting tools that provide visibility into project cost, schedule, and productivity performance.
  • Communicate project status, forecast accuracy, and financial performance to project management and leadership.
  • Ensure consistent reporting standards and data integrity across project controls systems.

Forecasting & Financial Planning

  • Support financial planning and analysis activities related to project execution.
  • Maintain and update cost forecasts using historical trends, field progress, commitments, and risk assessments.
  • Partner with field leadership to improve forecast accuracy and financial predictability.
  • Support month-end accruals and project financial close processes.

Schedule & Scope Integration

  • Integrate cost, schedule, and scope information to support comprehensive project forecasting and performance analysis.
  • Collaborate with project scheduling teams to evaluate progress and forecast project completion costs.
  • Identify potential project risks and quantify financial impacts.
  • Support resource planning and project execution strategies through data-driven analysis.

Field Support & Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Serve as a project controls resource to field construction and operations teams.
  • Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and forecasting sessions.
  • Foster strong working relationships with project managers, engineers, construction management, finance, and operations personnel.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to project controls processes, systems, and reporting.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Economics, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in project controls, cost engineering, project finance, FP&A, construction finance, or capital project management.
  • Experience supporting capital projects, industrial projects, infrastructure projects, energy projects, or large-scale operations environments.
  • Knowledge of project budgeting, forecasting, cost control, accruals, and financial reporting processes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining project cost forecasts and performance reporting tools.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project reporting software.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a field environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Cost control experience
  • Familiarity with Primavera P6,  Oracle, Power BI, Tableau, EcoSys, or similar project controls systems.
  • Knowledge of construction, engineering, energy, mining, manufacturing, or industrial operations.
  • Professional certifications such as AACE (CCP), PMP, EVP, or similar credentials.
  • Experience supporting multi-million-dollar capital projects.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Strong understanding of cost engineering and project controls best practices.
  • Demonstrated expertise in forecasting, variance analysis, and performance reporting.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and data integrity.
  • Ability to identify project risks early and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to interact with both field personnel and executive leadership.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.

Working Conditions

  • This position is based on-site at the Stibnite Mine near Yellow Pine, Idaho.
  • Frequent work in field, construction, and active mining environments.
  • Exposure to varying weather conditions, uneven terrain, loud noise, and heavy equipment.
  • Occasional extended or irregular hours during major construction activities, shutdowns, or critical project milestones.
  • Mandatory use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to all site safety protocols.
