Assistant Field Manager โ€“ Boston, MA

Are you a hands-on leader who enjoys supporting technicians in the field, solving operational challenges, and helping deliver high-quality service?


We're seeking an Assistant Field Manager to support a team of skilled technicians across the Boston market. In this role, you'll partner closely with the Field Manager to balance field leadership, technical support, safety oversight, and daily operational execution while helping ensure projects and service work are completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.

About the Role

As Assistant Field Manager, you'll support the daily service and repair operations while working alongside the Field Manager to assist technicians in the field. You'll provide coaching, help troubleshoot technical challenges, promote safety compliance, assist with workforce coordination, and partner with internal teams to support project execution and customer needs.


Key Responsibilities

Field Leadership & Technical Support:

  • Support field technicians with troubleshooting, problem-solving, and job execution
  • Provide hands-on coaching and on-the-job training
  • Conduct job site visits and quality audits to ensure work is completed safely and to company standards
  • Identify material requirements and assist with coordinating parts procurement for repair projects
  • Partner with technical training teams to stay current on products, equipment, and industry best practices

Operations & Business Support:

  • Assist in reviewing operational performance and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Help monitor service quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction metrics
  • Collaborate with sales and estimating teams to support repair scopes, labor requirements, and material needs
  • Assist with employee development, workforce planning, and day-to-day operational coordination
  • Support scheduling, resource allocation, and daily service operations across the field team

Safety & Compliance:

  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture
  • Participate in and support safety training initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, and industry standards
  • Support continuous improvement efforts related to safety, quality, and operational excellence


Qualifications

We're interested in leaders with experience supporting technicians, field crews, or service teams in a technical environment.

Qualified candidates may come from backgrounds including:

  • HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, facilities maintenance, construction, industrial service, utilities, transportation, or similar industries
  • Field supervision, assistant field management, maintenance leadership, service supervision, operations support, or project coordination
  • Technical service organizations with customer-facing responsibilities

Additionally, you should have:

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical field service, maintenance, construction, or related environment
  • Previous experience leading, mentoring, or coordinating technicians or field-based employees
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to prioritize work and support multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Business, operations, or technical experience gained through education, leadership roles, or a combination of both
