Summary 

The Field Service Technician is responsible for providing on-site installation support, troubleshooting, and customer service for generator packages and enclosures at customer locations. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, problem-solving ability, and professionalism while working in diverse field environments. The Field Service Technician represents Fidelity Manufacturing on job sites and ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to company quality standards.  


Essential Functions

  • Provide on-site service, troubleshooting, and installation support at customer locations. 
  • Interpret customer requirements and resolve field-related challenges. 
  • Guide and coordinate with on-site technicians, contractors, and crane operators. 
  • Assist with rigging, positioning, and installation of generator packages and related components. 
  • Operate heavy equipment including forklifts, lulls, boom lifts, and scissor lifts. 
  • Maintain professional appearance, organization, and cleanliness of service truck and equipment. 
  • Follow all OSHA regulations, site-specific safety requirements, and company policies. 
  • Communicate effectively with customers, supervisors, and internal departments regarding project status. 
  • Travel extensively as required to support customer needs. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to service activities.  

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required. 

• Three (3) to five (5) years of related mechanical, fabrication, or installation experience preferred. 

• Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills. 

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 

• Experience operating heavy equipment (lull, boom lifts, scissor lifts). 

• Quality fabrication skills. 

• Ability to work at elevated heights without fear. 

• Ability to work flexible hours and extended travel assignments (up to 4 weeks at a time). 

• Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed written and oral instructions. 

• Ability to pass pre-employment drug screening. 

• Completion of required safety training prior to and during employment.  


Physical Requirements

The physical demands described below are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation. 

• Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, or maneuver materials weighing up to 50 pounds (occasionally more depending on task). 

• Frequent standing, walking, bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, and climbing. 

• Ability to work at elevated heights using ladders or lift equipment. 

• Ability to navigate uneven ground, ramps, platforms, and tight mechanical spaces. 

• Repetitive use of hands, arms, and upper body for tool operation and equipment handling. 

• Ability to work in environments with elevated noise levels while wearing PPE.  


Working Conditions

 This position is performed in both warehouse and customer job site environments. Work may include indoor and outdoor conditions with exposure to fluctuating temperatures, weather conditions, elevated noise levels, dust, airborne particles, fumes, and moving machinery within OSHA-permissible limits. Work may involve proximity to generators, tanks, crane operations, heavy equipment, and powered tools. OSHA-compliant safety training, PPE, and adherence to company safety procedures are required at all times. Extended travel, overnight stays, and varied work environments are expected based on customer service needs.
