The Field Splicing Technician performs various duties as instructed within the network with regards to outside plant construction, restoration, preventive maintenance, facility locating, customer service drops, and record keeping. This position may be filled as a level I, II, or III depending on experience.

Responsibilities:

What You Will Do

In all of your duties, you will have a relentless, obsessive, yet disciplined approach to manage all details to perfection and deliver desired results.

For positions at level I, your duties would include:

  • Read splicing records and splice fiber as directed by supervisor.

  • Demonstrate a functioning knowledge of testing and troubleshooting fiber optics.

  • Make as-needed changes and document test results.

  • Read engineering drawings and correlate them to physical plant.

  • Assist in physical cable placement.

  • Assist in coordination of OSP extensions and with other departments.

  • Perform detailed visual inspections of OSP construction for quality and adherence to standards.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
