Job description

Experienced Low Voltage Cable Infrastructure Technician

Location: Greater Reno, NV Area
Job Type: Full-Time | On-Site

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Low Voltage Cable Infrastructure Technician to install, maintain, and troubleshoot structured cabling systems in commercial environments. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with copper and fiber optic cabling, strong troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while delivering quality service. Experience with security cameras, access control systems, and network equipment is a plus.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, route, terminate, and test Cat5e, Cat6, and fiber optic cabling.
  • Troubleshoot and repair low voltage, network, and telecommunications systems.
  • Read blueprints, floor plans, and technical drawings to complete installations.
  • Test and certify cabling using Fluke or similar testing equipment.
  • Maintain accurate documentation, service reports, and material usage.
  • Review work orders with clients, communicate project progress, and obtain completion sign-offs.
  • Follow OSHA safety standards, building codes, and company policies.

Qualifications

  • 2–5+ years of experience installing and troubleshooting structured cabling systems.
  • Experience with Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic termination (fusion splicing is a plus).
  • Knowledge of LAN/WAN networking and telecommunications infrastructure.
  • Experience with CCTV, access control, routers, and switches is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug screening.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working on ladders, in ceilings, crawl spaces, and other confined areas.
  • Willing to travel to multiple job sites throughout the Greater Reno area.
