Daily responsibilities include preparing and splicing fiber optic cables, performing network tests, documenting completed work, and troubleshooting connectivity issues. You will frequently travel to various job sites and work both independently and as part of larger project teams. Flexibility and readiness to respond to urgent service calls, sometimes outside of normal business hours, are common in this role. This hands-on, technical environment rewards self-motivation, punctuality, and clear communication with colleagues and clients.

To thrive as a Fiber Splicing Independent Contractor, you need expertise in fiber optic cable splicing, termination, and testing, often supported by relevant experience or technical training. Familiarity with industry-standard tools like OTDRs, fusion splicers, and certifications such as FOA or ETA are commonly expected.
