Travel is expected to average approximately 50% annually, with actual travel requirements fluctuating based on project scope and phase.

This role offers the kind of range that is hard to find in a typical site-based position. You'll be brought into important work where power systems expertise is needed most - from major capital projects and infrastructure upgrades to troubleshooting, reliability, and design review in existing manufacturing operations across multiple Corning locations. It's a good fit for someone who wants to stay close to real engineering decisions, build range across different environments, and be a trusted technical resource in the moments that matter most.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the design and implementation of electrical power systems for facility expansions, equipment installations, infrastructure upgrades, and greenfield projects
  • Lead or support electrical engineering work across project phases including design review, fabrication, integration, testing, installation, commissioning, and turnover
  • Support electrical engineering work for both new capital projects and technical problem-solving in existing manufacturing operations
  • Provide technical guidance on medium- and low-voltage power systems, including substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS, ATS, and related infrastructure
  • Conduct or review short circuit calculations, protection and coordination studies, arc flash studies, and system reliability analyses
  • Conduct and support failure analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigation for electrical equipment and power system issues
  • Scope electrical power projects, define technical requirements, and develop cost models, resource plans, timelines, and project metrics
  • Work closely with internal engineering teams, project stakeholders, consultants, and vendors to support effective technical decisions and project execution
  • Help develop and maintain corporate standards for facility electrical power distribution systems

Minimum Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in electrical power engineering
  • Experience designing, analyzing, and supporting industrial electrical power systems and equipment such as substations, transformers, switchgear, UPS, ATS, industrial control panels, or industrial machinery
  • Knowledge of medium- and low-voltage facility electrical power systems, power system control design, and power system analysis, including experience with solid-state components such as SCRs and IGBTs
  • Experience conducting short circuit calculations, protection and coordination studies, arc flash studies, and system reliability calculations
  • Experience leading or supporting failure analysis, troubleshooting, and root cause investigation for electrical equipment and power system issues
  • Knowledge of electrical safety requirements and practices, including OSHA and NFPA standards and procedures for establishing electrically safe work conditions
  • Experience scoping and defining projects and supporting execution through planning, commissioning, and turnover
  • Ability to travel significantly, primarily within the U.S., with occasional international travel as needed

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

  • Professional Engineer license
  • Experience with factory acceptance testing and site acceptance testing for electrical equipment or power system installations
  • Knowledge of power system reliability in combination with automation, maintenance programs, and operations
  • Working knowledge of applicable standards such as NFPA 70B, NFPA 79, IEC 60204-1, GB 5226.1, IEEE 493, NETA ATS, and NETA MTS
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers, providing technical guidance, or supervising others in an electrical power engineering environment

This position does not support immigration sponsorship.

The range for this position is $116,047.00 - $159,565.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
