Job description

Field Technician

The Field Technician is responsible for installing and maintaining customer premise equipment, including fiber optic systems, while providing excellent customer service. This role requires working in outdoor environments, performing installations at heights, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The Field Technician will use hand tools, fiber optic tools, and other equipment to complete installations and repairs while adhering to safety standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain customer premise equipment (CPE), including fiber optic systems and other related equipment, ensuring quality and proper functionality.
  • Interact with customers professionally, address their concerns, explain services, and ensure their satisfaction with installations and services provided.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues with customer equipment and services, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum performance.
  • Adhere to safety standards, including OSHA guidelines, and safely operate tools, equipment, and vehicles.
  • Navigate confined spaces such as basements, crawl spaces, and attics, and safely work at heights up to 30 feet using ladders.
  • Identify opportunities to upsell services to customers and effectively communicate additional offerings.
  • Accurately complete all necessary service reports, installation checklists, and documentation in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

  • Strong customer service skills, with the ability to engage and satisfy customers.
  • Ability to work at heights of up to 30 feet, including the use of ladders and other equipment.
  • Proficient in installing and troubleshooting customer premise equipment, including fiber optics and associated technologies.
  • Capable of using hand tools for installation, repair, and maintenance work.
  • Experience with fiber optic installations, including fusion splicing and fiber testing is preferred.
  • Familiarity with using bucket trucks for high-altitude work is preferred.
  • Fiber optic certification and OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  • Background in upselling services or promoting additional offerings to customers is preferred.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 80 pounds.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights (up to 30 feet).
  • Ability to distinguish colors for wiring and installation tasks.
