Job description

Job Title

Responsibilities

The Department of Pathology at the Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine at the University of South Alabama (USA) in Mobile is currently recruiting for a full-time team-oriented faculty member with board certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with training in Pediatric Pathology. Alabama license is required (AL is an IMLCC member). This position carries a faculty appointment at the University of South Alabama, rank and salary are commensurate with experience. Responsibilities include Pediatric and Perinatal Pathology. Experience in hematopathology is desirable but not required. Neuropathology and renal pathology are handled by those services, respectively. Additional information about the department is available at www.usahealthsystem.com/pathology.

The Division of Anatomic Pathology handles about 20,000 surgical and 3,500 cytology cases a year and it is expanding rapidly. The Division of Anatomic Pathology serves USA Health University Hospital, USA Health Children's and Women's Hospital, and the USA Health Mitchell Cancer Institute. The two hospitals are licensed for 630 beds combined. Molecular, immunohistochemistry, flow cytometry, and electron microscopy laboratories are part of the sophisticated menu of tests available. The Department has a combined residency training program in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology with 12 residents.
