Job description

Overview

Burkhardt is seeking a motivated Survey Operator to join our land surveying team. Survey Operators work alongside an experienced survey crew chief to complete various land surveying related tasks, including ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Right-of-Way and Utility Surveys, FEMA Certifications, As-Built Surveys and Construction Staking.

Burkhardt’s field survey teams typically operate as a 2-person crew (crew chief and survey operator) and projects are primarily located in the southwest Ohio area. Extensive travel is not required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and operate all survey equipment including robotic total stations, GPS equipment, 3D laser scanners, data collectors, rods, and levels.
  • Prepare equipment and load/stock survey vehicle for the day.
  • Follow all required safety standards and guidelines.
  • Drive/operate survey vehicle as needed.
  • Keep survey vehicles, storage areas, and supplies clean, organized, and well stocked.
  • Participate in project planning and project debriefs.
  • Locate and collect survey field data including property monuments, structures, topographical information, utilities, and otherexisting improvements.
  • Provide construction layout of various site improvements.
  • Assist survey crew chief with sketches and site photos.
  • Attend project meetings and take notes as necessary to understand and execute survey scope.

Education / Skills / Experience

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, or a related field. (preferred)
  • A minimum of two (2) years of land surveying field experience.
  • FAA Part 107, Certified Remote Pilot certification (preferred).
  • Experience with Trimble survey equipment, including data collectors, GPS units, robotic total stations, and laser scanners.
  • Experience with performing survey fieldwork associated with ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Topographical Surveys, Right-of-Way and Utility Surveys, FEMA Certifications, As-Built Surveys and Construction Staking.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills, and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds, walking or standing for extended periods, and bending, kneeling, and climbing as needed.
