Job description

Role OverviewThe Security Specialist is responsible for supporting the organization's physical security operations by monitoring access control systems, managing employee and visitor credentials, conducting investigations, responding to security incidents, and ensuring compliance with company policies and security standards. This position collaborates closely with employees, contractors, vendors, and management to maintain a safe, secure, and professional work environment while protecting personnel, assets, and company information. The Security Specialist assists with audits, emergency response activities, security awareness initiatives, and other security-related programs as needed.Supervisory Responsibilities: NoKey ResponsibilitiesTo perform successfully in this position, the incumbent must be able to carry out each essential duty satisfactorily. Additional duties may be assigned.Create blueprints for security installations.Manage all security-related issues for company facilities and grounds.Coordinate with external agencies and service providers to contract services and ensure compliance with regulations.Develop and maintain a preventative maintenance plan for physical security systems, including CCTV cameras, gates, metal detection systems, monitoring systems, ACS systems, biometric readers/scanners, video production, credential inventory, and audits.Oversee the facility's security systems and delegate tasks to appropriate team members.Implement and maintain a preventive maintenance program to mitigate physical security risks.Manage security services and monitor contracts to ensure timely plant updates and year-round routine maintenance.Conduct regular risk assessments and report findings to management.Prepare reports, analyses, resolutions, and cost projections for departmental activities.Review invoices for accuracy and processing.Travel as needed to visit other sites.Perform other tasks as assigned.AUTHORITY & SCOPEThis role operates within defined corporate policies and procedures and exercises judgment appropriate to its level of responsibility. The position may influence decisions related to functional operations, processes, or recommendations and escalate matters as requiredBASIC QUALIFICATIONSRequired Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent required. Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in physical security, law enforcement, military service, or a related security field. Working knowledge of access control systems, CCTV surveillance, incident reporting, and general security operations. Preferred Experience:Associate or bachelor's degree in criminal justice, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Experience in corporate, manufacturing, automotive, logistics, distribution, or warehouse security environments. Experience with access control systems, CCTV monitoring, visitor management platforms, X-ray screening equipment, and weapons detection systems. Experience conducting incident investigations and preparing detailed reports. Experience supporting security audits, compliance programs, emergency response activities, and contractor/vendor security management.
