General Job Description:

The Production Operator is responsible for setting up and operating machinery to epoxy coat and fabricate rebar in accordance with work orders and shop drawings. This role ensures product quality and supports timely delivery to customers.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Review fabrication schedules and work orders
  • Sets controls to create desired bend, cut or angle
  • Activates machine with hand controls
  • Inspects bars for quality; touch up end of bars with paint
  • Completes paperwork; tag or label each order; daily production records
  • Performs routine preventive maintenance on equipment
  • Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE at all times.


ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS/TASKS:

  • Assembles cardboard shipping boxes on pallets
  • Operate overhead crane, forklift, or other equipment to retrieve or remove steel
  • May package and band boxes of fabricated steel.


HOURS WORKED:

  • 40 hours per week - 10 hour shifts Monday-Thursday
  • Mandatory Overtime as required on Fridays seasonally.
  • Fixed shifts - 1st shift 6 AM โ€“ 4:30 PM


PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be able to Stand and walk continuously.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull 25 pounds frequently and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds with assistance.
  • Must be able to climb, bend, twist, reach, crouch frequently.
  • Must have eye, hand, and foot coordination to operate in a safe and productive manner.
  • Must have vision to be able to read 12pt font from 3 feet away.


MACHINES, TOOLS, EQUIPMENT THAT MAY BE USED IN JOB: Bender, shear, CNC, overhead cranes, forklift, cutters, hand tools, tags and bands, measuring devices, angle finder.


PPE required: Earplugs, safety shoes and glasses, gloves, hard hats.


MATERIALS AND PRODUCTS HANDLED: Rebar and paint.


ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: Heat, cold, noise, vibration, fumes, and other potential work hazards.



Requirements:

EDUCATION/TRAINING/EXPERIENCE/LICENSE REQUIRED or DESIRED:

  • 6 months to one year, on the job training.
  • Basic Math skills and ability to read and comprehend work orders.
  • Prior work experience in a manufacturing environment is desired.
