FedEx Ground OTR (Over-the-Road) Drivers are professional truck drivers responsible for transporting packages and freight over long distances, often across multiple states. They operate tractor-trailers and are tasked with ensuring timely and safe delivery of shipments between FedEx Ground hubs and distribution centers. OTR drivers typically spend several days at a time on the road and must comply with federal driving regulations, maintain accurate logs, and perform vehicle inspections. This role requires a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and a strong commitment to safety and customer service.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a FedEx Ground OTR driver?

To thrive as a FedEx Ground OTR Driver, you need a valid CDL (Commercial Driver’s License), a clean driving record, and knowledge of DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations. Familiarity with GPS navigation, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and basic truck maintenance is typically required. Strong time management, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills help drivers manage schedules and interact with dispatchers and clients.
