Red Arch is hiring a Software Engineer-Java Developer
to join our team!
Position Detail:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to modernize a critical government information system. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in enterprise Java application development and a proven track record of upgrading complex software infrastructures in secure, regulated environments.
You will be responsible for planning and executing upgrades across our technology stack, including Apache Solr with Zookeeper, Apache Tomcat, Apache Directory Studio, and Java/Python components running on Windows-based VMware infrastructure. Strong knowledge of Oracle 19c database integration, SAP Business Intelligence reporting frameworks, secure coding practices, and upgrading and migrating Solr index data is essential. Experience with PrimeFaces UI framework is a plus. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams-including security, infrastructure, and business stakeholders-to ensure seamless upgrades with minimal operational disruption.
Position Responsibilities:
Core Development & Modernization:
• Plan and execute technology stack upgrades for enterprise Java applications in secure government environments
• Develop and maintain Java/Python components on Windows-based VMware infrastructure
• Modernize legacy application code to current standards and best practices
• Implement secure coding practices in compliance with government security requirements
Infrastructure & Integration:
• Upgrade Apache Solr clusters with Zookeeper coordination
• Migrate and optimize Solr index data during version upgrades
• Manage Apache Tomcat application server configurations and deployments
• Integrate applications with Oracle 19c database systems
• Work with Apache Directory Studio for directory services integration
• Support SAP Business Intelligence reporting framework integrations
Collaboration & Documentation:
• Collaborate with security, infrastructure, and business stakeholder teams
• Ensure minimal operational disruption during system upgrades
• Document technical designs, upgrade procedures, and system configurations
• Participate in code reviews and knowledge-sharing sessions
Education and Experience
13+ Years of experience in Systems or IT related roles or a highly related field of work with similar scope and responsibilities.
A Bachelor's degree may be substituted for 4 years of experience and a Master's Degree may be substituted for 6 years of experience
Required Quals
• Expertise in enterprise Java application development on Windows-based VMware infrastructure
• Expertise with Python
• Expertise Apache Solr with Zookeeper (including upgrading and migrating Solr index data)
• Experience with Apache Tomcat, Apache Directory Studio
• Experience with Oracle 19c/Relational database integration
• Experience with SAP Business Intelligence reporting frameworks
• Experience with secure coding practices for government compliance
• Ability to obtain and/or maintain a TS/SCI government clearance which requires US Citizenship
Desired Quals
• Experience with PrimeFaces UI framework
• TS/SCI with an in-scope polygraph

Salary Range for this position $145,000 to 211,000 #CJ
