Job description

  • Prepares the courtroom for jury trial.
  • Takes attendance for jurors reporting for duty, keeps jurors together during breaks.
  • Prepares jury and courtroom for deliberation.
  • Orders meals for deliberating jurors.
  • Distributes court calendars and files; tracks parties to case files.
  • Prepares courtrooms for court proceedings; checks in on attorneys and clients.
  • Draws juries, secures, sequesters and escorts jurors to the courtroom.
  • Assists judges in coordinating court proceedings by retrieving documents and photocopying materials.
  • Acts as a liaison between judges, juries, attorneys, and witnesses.
  • Receives, records, tracks, and secures court exhibits.
  • Maintains order in courtroom during trial and guards jury from outside contact.
  • Enforces courtroom rules of behavior and warns persons not to disturb court procedures.
  • Announces entrance of judge.
