Job description

A young family in Gramercy Park area is seeking an energetic, experienced Live-In (or live-out, if local) German-speaking Nanny to care for their baby boy, who will be born in late October. The family is beginning their search early for a February start. For the right candidate, they are open to an earlier start in January, offering a deposit to secure the perfect fit and have an overlap period with the current baby nurses who are on a 24/7 rotation and are expected to transition out after approximately three months.

This is a wonderful opportunity for a career nanny who is active and excited to grow with a young family. The family is looking for someone with an "au pair" mindset - someone energetic, engaged, flexible, and excited to become a lasting part of the family. German-English bilingual ability is a significant plus, as the family would love for their son to grow up hearing and speaking German. The role is primarily focused on the baby, with a full-time household assistant and housekeepers already in place. The family is looking for someone who will bring energy to the home, take initiative, and grow into the role as the child gets older.

Schedule:

  • Monday–Friday, approximately 8:00am–5:00pm
  • 40 hours per week, with additional hours as needed
  • February start preferred; flexible for the right candidate - deposit offered to hold Nanny
  • Potential for an earlier start in January and overlap with the current newborn care team
  • Family spends summers at their home on Long Island and travels throughout the year

  • Providing attentive, nurturing care for the family's infant
  • Supporting the baby's daily routine, development, and milestones
  • Preparing bottles, baby meals, and age-appropriate food as the child grows
  • Baby-related laundry and tidying
  • Keeping the nursery and baby's belongings organized
  • Preparing simple meals and snacks for the baby
  • Helping establish and maintain consistent routines
  • Speaking German with the child and incorporating the language naturally throughout the day
  • Supporting the child as he grows and taking on additional age-appropriate responsibilities over time
  • Traveling with the family as needed
  • Helping with occasional household tasks related to the child

  • Energetic, active, and physically capable of keeping up with a growing child
  • Athletic or outdoors-oriented candidates are a plus
  • Comfortable in a young, active household
  • Cooking and meal preparation experience is a plus

  • Extensive professional nanny experience, particularly with infants
  • German-speaking strongly preferred
  • Bilingual German-English candidates are highly desirable
  • Warm, engaging, and nurturing personality
  • Proactive and comfortable taking initiative
  • Strong understanding of infant development
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Someone interested in growing with a family for the long term
  • Willingness to travel with the family, including time at their Long Island home
  • Valid passport for family travel
  • Comfortable working additional hours as needed

  • $35–$45+/hour DOE
  • Full benefits
  • Private live-in accommodations
  • Accommodations covered while traveling with the family
  • Relocation assistance available for the right candidate, including transportation, flights, and moving expenses
  • Long-term opportunity
