About the Opportunity
Under the direction of the Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer and Corporate Secretary, the Associate General Counsel, Regulatory provides strategic legal counsel and regulatory guidance across the organization. This role serves as the Company's subject matter expert on healthcare regulatory compliance, licensing, accreditation, and reimbursement requirements, partnering closely with executive, operational, clinical, and compliance leaders to mitigate risk while supporting high-quality patient care and business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
  • Responsible for, and engages all Company stakeholders in, the Company's 6 Pillars of Success (Regulatory Compliance, Colleagues, Quality, Service, Growth, and Financial Responsibility).
  • Advises corporate, operational, and clinical leaders on regulatory compliance issues affecting patient care, reimbursement, and business operations.
  • Partners with Compliance, Clinical Operations, Revenue Cycle, and Government Affairs to proactively identify and mitigate regulatory risks.

Legal Expertise and Healthcare Regulation
  • Serves as the primary legal advisor on federal and state healthcare laws and regulations impacting the organization.
  • Interprets and advises leadership on healthcare regulatory requirements, including:
    • Medicare Conditions of Participation
    • Anti-Kickback Statute
    • Stark Law
    • HIPAA/HITECH
    • Fraud, Waste and Abuse laws
    • State licensing regulations
  • Leads the Company's licensing and Certificate of Need (CON) strategy and processes.
  • Assists Compliance with investigations and audits
  • Assists with Government and Regulatory Affairs

Regulatory Risk Management and Monitoring
  • Supports regulatory due diligence for strategic initiatives and organizational changes.
  • Monitors changes in federal and state regulations and develops legal guidance for implementation.
  • Provides legal support during governmental audits, investigations, surveys, and regulatory inquiries.

Policy Development and Educational Outreach
  • Develops policies, guidance documents, and educational materials related to healthcare regulations.
  • Reviews agreements and operational initiatives for regulatory compliance.

Miscellaneous Duties
  • Performs other duties as assigned
