Job Title: Truck Driver Medium

Shift:  Monday - Friday, 2:00 p.m. - 10:45 p.m.

Work Location: Blackstone, VA    

Labor Category:  Non-Exempt | CBA-IBEW

Clearance Level:  Secret

Travel Requirement: N/A   

Pay Rate: $23.10/hour ($23.97 effective 10/1/26)

Health & Welfare: $8.00/hour up to 40 hours per week (Effective 10/1/26, it will range from $8.28 - $11.11 based on insurance coverage tier)

Shift Assignments are at the discretion of site management:

  • 1st shift will be paid the base hourly rate.
  • 2nd shift will be paid the base hourly rate of $23.10 per hour plus a 5% shift differential.
  • 3rd shift will be paid the base hourly rate of $23.10 per hour plus a 10% shift differential.

About the Role 

The Truck Driver Medium transports materials and equipment by truck at FASTC, Fort Pickett, and along Virginia highways, while also performing general labor and other assigned duties.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Loads and unloads trucks, and other conveyances.
  • Operate vehicles with a GVWR of 25,999 lbs. on FASTC, Fort Pickett, as well as Virginia highways.
  • Disperse water on tracks to control dust.
  • Transport various materials throughout FASTC.
  • Transport Heavy equipment on Virginia State highways.
  • In addition to operating commercial motor vehicles, the CDL Driver will be responsible for performing routine grounds maintenance, including mowing grass using a zero-turn mower, string trimmers, pole saws, chainsaws, hedge trimmers, and other hand and power tools as needed.
  • Perform snow removal duties during snow events.
  • Maintain equipment in a safe and serviceable condition.
  • Refuel trucks and equipment.
  • Complete and submit all required paperwork accurately and on time.
  • Clean and recycling of firing range live fire shoot house, MOUT, explosive pads, and other assigned facilities to include removing all brass, vehicle debris, cleaning all surfaces of debris.
  • Cleaning to acceptable health and safety levels surfaces and areas for lead, gunpowder, and frangible ammo.
  • Responsible for cleaning of bullet traps.
  • Rehang and repair breaching doors in all venues.
  • Using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Painting structures and equipment.
  • Repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hanging doors and installing door locks.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

  • Ability to obtain and maintain interim secret clearance. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.   
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License. and have a safe driving record, in accordance with company policy, to operate vehicles or equipment as required for the position.
  • Must have a basic knowledge of custodial, recycling, and working with hazardous materials.
  • Possess and demonstrate a courteous and positive attitude toward customers.
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures.
  • Ability to follow basic operating instructions.
  • Demonstrated aptitude for successful completions of assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and work harmoniously with others.
  • Must have knowledge of worksite safety, occupational hazards and standard safety practices.
  • This position requires the safe operation of landscaping equipment.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Must be able be able to conduct preventative maintenance activities and minor repairs from ladders or elevated platforms.   
  • Physical requirements include (but are not limited to) the ability to lift 50 pounds, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to work in small areas or in uncomfortable positions.
  • Must be able to work on-call, alternate, and extended shift schedules when necessary to meet the mission requirements, including weekends and holidays.
  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to work in confined spaces, at heights, and around various hazards with appropriate PPE.   
  • Must be comfortable getting dirty, dusty, and greasy.
